Winemaker Notes
Hugel is one of the classic producers of “Gentil,” a dry white in the ancient Alsace tradition. The name is reserved for AOC Alsace wines fulfilling the superior-quality blending standards. This blending must have at least 50% of Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, and/or Gewurztraminer, and the rest can be either Sylvaner, Chasselas and/or Pinot Blanc. Before blending, each variety must be vinified separately and must officially qualify as an AOC Alsace wine. Hugel’s brings together the spicy flavor of Gewurztraminer, the body of Pinot Gris, the finesse of Riesling, the grapiness of Muscat, finishing with the refreshing character of Sylvaner.
Blend: 33% Gewurztraminer, 30% Sylvaner, 17% Pinot Blanc, 7% Riesling, 7% Pinot Gris, 6% Muscat

Very fresh with notes of sliced pears, lemons and white peaches plus a touch of white pepper spice and chamomile. It’s medium- to full-bodied with bright acidity and a phenolic touch. Dry.
